Choose your three cards
What the checker does
The checker reads card ranks and suits. It recognises trail, pure sequence, sequence, colour, pair and high card. It rejects duplicate cards and treats A-2-3 and A-K-Q as runs. It does not rank those two runs against each other because that convention varies.
The calculation runs on your device. Your selected cards are not sent to a server or saved in local storage. JavaScript is required for the interactive result; the written examples remain available without it.
Three examples to reason through
- A♠ A♥ A♦: three equal ranks make a trail. Suits must differ because identical cards cannot occur in one deck.
- 9♥ 8♥ 7♥: consecutive ranks plus one suit make a pure sequence.
- K♠ K♥ 4♦: two Kings make a pair; the 4 is the remaining card.
Limits of the exercise
This tool assumes a standard 52-card deck without jokers or wild cards. It does not calculate opponent strength, recommend decisions, predict a game or audit software fairness. For a full comparison, use the hand-ranking chart and check the rules of the specific variant.
